Your desert home - a description of styles:
- Mediterranean - a derivation of the Spanish Colonial Revival style. Highlights of this style are clay tile roofs, arches, stucco wall surfaces, pillars, patios and courtyards.
- Ranch - traditionally boasts open carports, masonry or wood construction, covered porches and a rambling, single-story structure with pitched roofs.
- Santa Fe - with characteristics that include rounded corners, protruding rough-hewn log beams known as vigas, earth-colored adobe walls, flat roofs and boxy formations.
- Southwestern Contemporary - often incorporating the use of curves or lines and angles with large, open windows, soaring ceilings, skylights and smatterings of historical elements.
- Sonoran - usually in the historic district (Barrio Historico) showing attached houses with small openings, virtually no front yards and gives the appearance of an entire block with one long facade.
- Territorial - eclectic mixture of styles from 1863 to 1912 that is a combination of adobe walls and rough-hewn lumber for porches.
